Steve Mills, Aotea's Plastics Division Manager, has returned from CHINAPLAS held this year in Guangzhou. The show is the world's 2nd largest plastics and rubber trade fair, having over 50,000 visitors each day and held 3,500 exhibitions. It was an incredible opportunity to gain valuable international industry insight and discover innovative technologies in digitalisation, injection moulding, automation and additive manufacturing.
An important theme in this year's fair was the 'Circular Economy', which is all about recycling, reusing, waste minimisation and the global effect of these actions on our green planet. Steve explains, "We get a lot out of this visit. Our suppliers Arburg GmbH + Co KG, Piovan, and 2KM had exhibition Stands, with Arburg showcasing a very serious Turnkey ‘S’ Series 2 colour machine with robot and assembly system which made an LSR (liquid silicon rubber) wristwatch, and a Golden Electric 370E with automation and conveyor produced a Polycarbonate medical component. The Freeformer was also on display.
Piovan represented their entire range, along with some new "EasyTerm" MTC’s (mould temperature controllers) that will be available in 2020! A small group of New Zealanders had made the journey this time, I suspect most are saving their travel funds for the K-Fair at the end of the year which we are looking forward to as well!”.
